Owens Corning Shingle Repair: The Fort Lauderdale Owner’s Guide

Owens Corning shingle repair in Fort Lauderdale typically runs $425 to $1,150 installed, depending on how many shingles failed, the roof’s pitch, and whether the underlayment underneath took water. We stock Owens Corning-compatible shingles on our trucks, and in most cases we can match your existing color and profile the same day we look at it. The way most homeowners find out is unglamorous: a shingle in the driveway after a storm, a water stain creeping across the bedroom ceiling, or a neighbor’s kid pointing at the roof and asking why it’s “flapping.”

If you’re seeing any of that, you’re in the right place. This page covers which Owens Corning lines we repair, what fails first in South Florida’s climate, what a repair actually costs here, and the one question everyone asks: can I just fix it myself?

Which Owens Corning Models This Applies To

We repair the full Owens Corning asphalt shingle lineup, including the Duration series (the most common we see on Fort Lauderdale homes), Oakridge, and the TruDefinition color platform. Duration is Owens Corning’s architectural shingle with their SureNail fabric strip, and it’s a genuinely well-built product. Oakridge is their mid-tier architectural line, still common on homes built between roughly 2005 and 2015.

If you’re trying to match a patch, look in your garage or attic first. Most roofers leave a bundle or two behind, and the wrapper tells you the exact color name and product line, like “Duration, Driftwood” or “Oakridge, Estate Gray.” No leftover bundle? The color code is sometimes printed on the back of a shingle, but the fastest route is a photo of the roof in daylight. Greg Holloway, our owner, matches color from the ground before he ever puts a ladder up. Worth knowing: Owens Corning shifted some color formulations over the years, so a shingle bought today in “Brownwood” may read slightly different than one installed in 2012. We account for that when we write your estimate, and we’ll tell you plainly if a patch won’t blend well enough and a larger section makes more sense.

On the OEM-versus-aftermarket question: for Owens Corning, we prefer factory-matched Owens Corning shingles. The color consistency and the SureNail strip matter, especially on a roof that takes direct Florida sun. There are quality aftermarket matches out there, but if we’re repairing a visible section, we’d rather set you up with the real thing than save forty dollars and leave you squinting at the roof every morning. This is one of the seven manufacturers we keep relationships with: GAF, CertainTeed, Owens Corning, IKO, Atlas, Tamko, and Boral. Tilehurst Roofing Fort Lauderdale is an independent service provider, not affiliated with Owens Corning, but we install their product because it holds up here.

Signs Your Owens Corning Shingle Repair Is Failing

  • Granules in the gutter, especially after a heavy rain. South Florida’s afternoon downpours are hard on shingle surfaces, and Owens Corning shingles shed granules over time like any asphalt product. A light sprinkle is normal wear. A pile of granules the size of a dinner plate means the shingle’s protective layer is mostly gone and the asphalt underneath is starting to bake.
  • Curling at the corners or lifting edges. This is the classic Fort Lauderdale failure. Heat and humidity work on the shingle’s adhesive strip, and once an edge lifts, wind gets under it and the countdown begins. On the Las Olas Isles particularly, salt air combined with sun degrades the sealant faster than inland roofs.
  • Bare asphalt patches where granules used to be. Once that happens, the shingle has maybe a year or two left before it cracks and leaks. You can often see this from the ground with binoculars: dark, shiny patches that catch the sun differently than the surrounding shingles.
  • Cracked or torn shingles after a storm. Hurricane-force wind is one thing, but even a garden-variety thunderstorm with a gust front can tear a loose shingle. If a shingle’s already compromised, it doesn’t take much. Check the yard after any significant wind event.
  • A new water stain on the ceiling or high on an interior wall. By the time you see this, the shingle above has been failing for a while. Water’s found a path through the roof deck, and the repair usually involves replacing more than just the shingle: underlayment, possibly a section of decking. That’s fine. It’s all in the price we give you before work starts.

Replacement Cost & What’s Included

Fort Lauderdale pricing for Owens Corning shingle repair breaks down like this:

  • Single shingle replacement: $325 to $475. This covers the shingle, the trip, sealing the surrounding course, and a written guarantee. It’s a small job, but it’s the most common one we do, and we don’t pad it.
  • Section repair (3 to 10 shingles): $450 to $850. We replace the failed shingles, check the underlayment beneath them, re-seal the edges of the repair, and make sure nothing else in the immediate area is lifting.
  • Repair with underlayment or decking replacement: $750 to $1,150. If water got through, we cut out the damaged underlayment or decking and replace it before the new shingles go down. This is the one where the final number depends on what we find when we open the roof up, and we’ll talk you through it as soon as we know.

Every one of these prices is in writing before we touch your roof. The price you’re quoted is the price you pay; we don’t do change-order surprises. The repair carries the 365-Day Done Right Promise: if it fails inside a year, we come back and correct it at no charge. The workmanship is also covered by a written guarantee delivered before the crew leaves, not mailed later.

What drives the range, honestly, is roof pitch and story height. A single-story roof with an easy pitch is the low end. A two-story with a steep pitch takes more time and more care, and the price reflects that. Material cost for Owens Corning shingles is only about 20 to 30 percent of the job. The rest is labor and the fact that we’re sending a background-checked, uniformed technician who’s done this thousands of times.

DIY or Call Us?

What you can safely do: get on the ground with binoculars and identify which shingles look compromised. Take photos. Check the gutters for granules. Call us with that information, and we can give you a rough range before we even come out. That’s genuinely useful.

What I don’t recommend is getting on a Fort Lauderdale roof in flip-flops with a bundle of shingles under one arm. Even a single-story roof in this town is hot, the shingles are slick after a rain, and a fall off a roof isn’t a story you want to tell from a hospital bed. Beyond the safety part, there’s the repair itself: lifting a shingle without breaking the seal on the course above, nailing in the right pattern, sealing so wind doesn’t get under it. If the patch isn’t done right, it fails within weeks and you’re paying twice. If you’ve got a ladder, a harness, and genuinely know what you’re doing on a roof, respect. But if you’d rather someone who does this every day handles it, call us at (754) 732-9325. We tell you the price before we touch your roof. That’s just how it should work.
