IKO Gutter Replacement: The Fort Lauderdale Owner’s Guide
IKO gutter replacement in Fort Lauderdale typically runs $9 to $22 per linear foot installed, depending on the gutter profile and whether we’re replacing a short run or the full perimeter. Most Fort Lauderdale homes fall between $1,400 and $2,800 for a complete gutter system replacement, and we can usually complete the swap in a single day. Homeowners tend to discover the problem the same way every time: after a hard summer downpour, water sheets off the roofline instead of channeling to the downspout, or a section of gutter is visibly sagging away from the fascia board with rust blooms creeping up from the seams.

We’re an independent roofing and gutter contractor in Fort Lauderdale. We install IKO’s full gutter product line, but we’re not owned by or affiliated with IKO. What that means for you: we can recommend the right IKO profile for your roofline without pushing a house brand, and we stock both IKO aluminum and steel components alongside compatible alternatives from GAF, Owens Corning, and CertainTeed so the gutter matches your roofline, not just what’s on the truck.
Which IKO Models This Applies To
IKO manufactures gutters in three main profiles that show up on Fort Lauderdale roofs: the 5-inch K-style, the 6-inch half-round, and the 5-inch box gutter for older mid-century builds. Each has different hanger spacing, outlet sizing, and end cap geometry, so knowing which one you have matters before we order material. The fastest way to identify your IKO gutter is to check the inside face of a downspout elbow for a stamped part number, but Florida sun has usually faded those stamps beyond reading within a few years. When that happens, our crew measures the top opening width and lip profile on site, which takes about five minutes.
One compatibility gotcha specific to IKO: their 5-inch K-style gutter uses a 3×4-inch rectangular downspout outlet, while many aftermarket 5-inch K-style systems are drilled for 2×3-inch outlets. If someone swaps in a generic outlet, the downspout will bottleneck in heavy rain and overflow at the corner. We use IKO OEM outlets and hangers on IKO gutter runs, and we’ll tell you before the job if a prior contractor mixed in non-matching components. That mismatch is the most common cause of premature gutter failure we see along the Las Olas Isles.

Signs Your IKO Gutter Replacement Is Failing
- Seams separating at the corners. IKO gutter sections are joined with sealant and rivets at corners, and Fort Lauderdale’s heat-and-rain cycle works that sealant loose. Once a corner seam opens, water tracks down the fascia and rots the wood behind it within one wet season.
- Rust blooms at the hanger screws. Salt air near the coast accelerates corrosion where the steel screw meets the aluminum hanger. It starts as a small orange stain and, left alone, the screw head fails and the gutter drops an inch, breaking the slope.
- Water pouring over the front lip instead of toward the downspout. This usually means the gutter slope has flattened because hangers pulled loose or the fascia board is soft. It’s a drainage failure, not just a clog.
- Visible sag between hangers. IKO specifies hanger spacing at 24 inches on center for 5-inch K-style. When a prior install stretched that to 36 inches, the gutter bows in the middle, and we see this on older Fort Lauderdale homes where the original install predates current code.
- Downspout pulling away from the wall. The strap that anchors the downspout has rusted through or was never installed. In a heavy afternoon storm, that downspout swings and dumps water at the foundation line instead of carrying it away.

AfterReplacement Cost & What’s Included
Here’s what a Fort Lauderdale homeowner can expect to pay, parts and labor included:
- 5-inch aluminum K-style (seamless): $9 to $14 per linear foot installed
- 6-inch aluminum half-round: $14 to $22 per linear foot installed
- Copper or steel IKO profiles: $22 to $38 per linear foot installed
- Downspout replacement (per 10-foot drop): $120 to $220 installed
- Fascia repair (per 8-foot section, if needed): $90 to $160 installed
Every estimate is a written line-item price before any work starts. The number on that sheet is the number you pay, full stop. Our 365-Day Done Right Promise covers the gutter replacement for a full year after install: if a seam opens, a hanger fails, or the slope is off, we return and correct it at no charge. Greg Holloway walks the roof himself on every gutter job and puts the guarantee in writing before the crew leaves.
DIY or Call Us?
You can clean out a clogged gutter, re-seat a popped-downspout elbow, and check that hangers are still tight. Those are safe homeowner tasks. What you shouldn’t do is work from a ladder at roof height on a two-story Fort Lauderdale home to replace a full gutter run, especially during the summer when afternoon thunderstorms can arrive with very little warning. A fall from gutter height breaks hips, wrists, and worse. If you’re on a single-story rancher and comfortable on a ladder, you can swap a short section with an OEM-matching profile, but getting slope and hanger spacing right is the difference between a gutter that drains for ten years and one that fails next May.
For anything beyond a clean-out, call us at (754) 732-9325. We’ll walk the roofline, measure what’s there, and give you the written price before we touch the gutter. That’s just how it should work.
FAQs
IKO aluminum gutters typically last 15 to 20 years in Fort Lauderdale’s salt-air and heavy-rain climate, though seams and hangers often need attention at the 10-year mark. Steel and copper run longer, but steel rusts faster within a few miles of the coast. Call (754) 732-9325 and we’ll inspect yours free of charge.
Yes, if the failure is a single seam, a pulled hanger, or a short rusted section, we can repair it same-day while matching the IKO profile. If the gutter slope is shot across multiple runs or the fascia behind it is rotted, replacement is usually the cheaper fix over five years. We’ll tell you which one makes sense before quoting either.
A full perimeter gutter replacement on a typical Fort Lauderdale home takes one working day from tear-off to cleanup. Larger properties or jobs needing fascia repairs may run into a second morning. We schedule the window up front and hold to it.
We stock IKO 5-inch K-style aluminum and downspout components on the truck, along with compatible profiles from GAF, Owens Corning, and CertainTeed. Half-round, copper, and steel IKO profiles are ordered per job, which adds two to three business days to the start date. Either way, the written price comes before any material is ordered.
