Tamko Gutter Replacement: The Fort Lauderdale Owner’s Guide

If your Tamko gutters are pulling away from the fascia, leaking at the seams, or sagging in the middle, replacement is usually a same-week job here in Fort Lauderdale. We install Tamko-compatible gutter systems starting around $8 to $14 per linear foot for standard 5-inch aluminum K-style, with most single-story homes in Fort Lauderdale landing between $1,200 and $2,400 fully installed. That price includes removing the old runs, matching the color and profile to your existing Tamko setup, hanging the new sections, sealing every seam, and hauling the old material away. Most owners discover the problem the same way: a streak of staining down the fascia, or water pooling near the foundation after one of our heavy summer downpours.

Which Tamko Models This Applies To

Tamko’s gutter line is built around one primary profile: the 5-inch aluminum K-style, which is the same profile you’ll see on most Florida homes. Some Fort Lauderdale homes, especially those with larger roof pitches or wider soffits, use Tamko’s 6-inch oversized K-style for extra water capacity. The compatibility gotcha most people hit is the hanger system. Tamko’s hidden-hanger brackets are spaced at 24 inches on center, which is tighter than the 32-inch spacing some installers use on generic brands. If the old brackets are failing, it’s usually because they were installed too far apart for a Florida storm load. We match the gutter profile, the bracket spacing, and the color code from Tamko’s aluminum finish chart so the new sections blend with any original Tamko runs still in good shape. Aftermarket aluminum in the same gauge and profile works exactly as well as OEM for this application, and that’s what we install unless you specifically want Tamko-branded sections. Tilehurst Roofing Fort Lauderdale is an independent service provider and not affiliated with Tamko.

Signs Your Tamko Gutter Replacement Is Failing

  • Sagging or pulling away from the fascia. This is the classic Fort Lauderdale failure mode. The aluminum expands and contracts in our summer heat, and the screw holes in the fascia strip out over time, letting the gutter tilt and hold water in the low spots.
  • Water spilling over the front edge during rain. Not the same as a clog. If you clean the debris and water still pours over the lip, the run has lost its pitch. The original slope was probably set at a quarter inch per ten feet, and heat cycling has flattened it.
  • Seam separation with visible water marks below. Tamko’s sections are joined with sealant and rivets. In salt air, especially closer to the beach along the Las Olas Isles, that sealant breaks down and the joint opens. You’ll see a drip line staining the siding or the concrete below.
  • Rust-colored streaks on the outside face of the gutter. This only happens with steel screws or brackets that have been substituted for aluminum. The zinc coating wears off, the steel rusts, and the rust bleeds down the face of the gutter. Aluminum sections with steel hardware never age well in Fort Lauderdale humidity.
  • Downspout joints pulling apart. The crimped ends that fit into the elbow loosen over time. Once one joint separates, water runs down the outside of the downspout, and the soil or hardscape below starts to wash out.

Replacement Cost & What’s Included

For a typical single-story Fort Lauderdale home, expect full Tamko-style gutter replacement to run $8 to $14 per linear foot for 5-inch aluminum. The 6-inch profile runs $10 to $17 per linear foot. What drives the difference: second stories that need extension ladders and extra crew time, existing fascia rot that has to be cut out and replaced before the new gutters can be hung, and the number of downspouts and elbows your layout requires. Every quote we write includes removal and disposal of the old runs, all hangers, end caps, sealant, downspouts, and the labor to install and test the system with a hose. You get the number before any work starts. That’s the Kingswell Way, and Greg Holloway has been holding to it since day one. Every replacement carries our written guarantee and the full 365-Day Done Right Promise: if anything on our install fails inside the first year, we come back and correct it at no charge. Not a discount, not a service fee. Free.

DIY or Call Us?

There are a few things you can safely check before calling anyone. Walk the house with a hose and watch where the water goes. Mark the seams that leak with painter’s tape. Check the downspouts for clogs at the elbow. That diagnostic work is easy and safe from the ground. What goes wrong for most do-it-yourselfers is the actual removal and re-hang. Gutters fastened at the bottom edge of the fascia are load-bearing, and if the fascia wood is soft from our wet summers, a new run of gutter can pull the old board right off the rafter tails. You also need a second person, a properly set pitch line, and the discipline to space hidden hangers no more than 24 inches apart. If you’d rather hand that off, call (754) 732-9325 and we’ll walk the roofline, measure, and hand you a written price before we touch anything. We tell you the price before we touch your roof. That’s just how it should work.
